Good morning families,
We've received interest in the establishment of a Junior Choir at Sherwood in 2023. It is proposed these sessions be held for 45 minutes per week, before school on a Monday morning.
The choir would be open to all students in Year 1 - 3, with the inclusion of Prep students from Term 4. The group would be led by Choral Conductor and highly-skilled musician (and Sherwood parent) Kellie Wilson, who would be able to accommodate up to 30 students.
Initially, the choir would focus on unison singing, and incorporate aspects of drama and movement, guided by the repertoire. Mrs Wilson will focus on intonation/ pitch, rhythm, vowel shaping, articulation, resonance and reinforcement of music literacy.
As with our other Arts programs, there would be a small cost involved to cover expenses for performances, props, and uniforms throughout the year. This would be kept to a minimum.
